Insight on Site: Context, Continuity and Congrituty
Fall 2008
Philip Marshall
This course will examine specific sites — individual structures,
places, and cultural landscapes — to address the role
of context, congruity and continuity as they come to bear on casual
and intentional change.
The temporal and cultural aspects of past, present and future
— "historic" and "contemorary" —
will provide an added framework to help blur the line between
"new" and "old", conservation and design.
In response to the urgency of the next, decisive decade, the course will focus on sustainability initiatives in an urban context.
