Introduction

   Take a historic space in a specific structure:

  • Document the existing condition of the space and;
  • Analyze historic fabric
  • Research historical, and historical, resources;
  • Develop a treatment for the space

  5. Architectural Photography
    1. Employ scale as needed.
    2. Color digital images, minimum 2 mb "originals," reduced to 640x480 pixel at 72 dpi, and thumbnails at 200x150 pixel at 72 dpi. Color balance, and sharpen each image. Develop format and name each image file.
    3. Labeled images to include: photographer, dates, site / structure, address, floor, room, detail, materials, scale, other notes.
    4. At least one exterior image.
    5. Only include images in the report that are specifically referenced.
    6. Permission release for photographs (in appendix)
    7. Photographs of historic images, identified by repository, location, date, accession or catalog number, if available. Copyright, permission to use, if applicable.
  6. Historical research: visual documents, inventories, secondary sources
    1. Original use, changes in use, proposed use, as known.
    2. History of users and their influence, effect on the space, as known.
  7. Architecture and Decoration
    1. Issues of "style": period, high style, vernacular
    2. Issue of decorative styles, fashion, etc.
