Tudor Revival 1890-1940

  • Asymmetrical massing, fenestration
  • Steep-pitched side-gabeled roof with prominent cross gables all clad with slate, clay tiles, shakes, and (infrequently) thatch
  • Decorative (non-structural) half-timbering, parapeted gables, vergeboards
  • Walls clad with several materials: smooth or textured stucco, brick, and/or stone; infrequently wood clapboard or shingles
  • Tall, narrow casement windows in multiple groups and with multi-paned glazing; doors with Renaissance detailing and Tudor arches
  • Massive chimneys crowned by decorative chimney pots
